Golden State Warriors Moving back to San Francisco after 41 years!

As reported by CSN Bay Area with NBA commissioner David Stern in attendance on Tuesday morning, the Warriors formally announced their intention to move the franchise to a San Francisco waterfront arena after their lease at Oracle Arena expires in 2017.

Owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, San Francisco mayor Ed Lee, Warriors legends Nate Thurmond and Al Attles, team executive Jerry West, head coach Mark Jackson and center David Lee were also in attendance for the press conference which was hosted by Ahmad Rashad. The move is scheduled to take place in 2017, with San Francisco providing the land and the Warriors paying to repair the crumbling piers, and privately financing the arena project. The cost of repairs is estimated at $75 to $100 million.
